The Bolles School College Counseling Office offers a comprehensive program designed to help students identify colleges that fit their interests, abilities, skills, and values. The college search is a process which requires well-honed research and decision-making skills and should be geared to the individual, resulting in an appropriate match between the student and institution.
Bolles has partnered with Revolution Prep, a test prep company that provides academic tutoring and standardized test preparation online with live tutors. In conjunction with Revolution Prep, we offer free practice tests for both the SAT and ACT throughout the school year. For more information, please visit our Bolles/Revolution Prep website or reach out to our dedicated Revolution Prep advisor, Christina Brownell, at 904-862-2663 or via email at email@example.com.
Bolles utilizes SCOIR, a college research and application platform. All Bolles students have an account with SCOIR to search for colleges, research individual college pages and resources, analyze scattergrams, view the college visit schedule to Bolles, and register for high school visits. To access SCOIR, please visit their website.
Bolles College Counseling hosts a mandatory college application workshop in May, June, and August before school starts that all rising seniors must attend. At this workshop, in addition to filling out the application, students will begin writing their college essay, also called the personal statement. Students will work with their individual college counselor to write and finalize their college essays during the summer before senior year and at the start of senior year. Prior to working with their College Counselor, during junior year, students will write sample drafts of their college essay in their English class. Students are asked to add these essays to SCOIR. There are numerous websites and information available providing guidelines for writing the college essay. It is important to receive information from trusted resources.
