San Jose Campus, Swisher Library: College Counseling Resources

The Bolles School San Jose Campus Swisher Library

The Bolles School College Counseling Office offers a comprehensive program designed to help students identify colleges that fit their interests, abilities, skills, and values. The college search is a process which requires well-honed research and decision-making skills and should be geared to the individual, resulting in an appropriate match between the student and institution.

Bolles College Counseling hosts a mandatory college application workshop in May, June, and August before school starts that all rising seniors must attend. Students will work with their individual college counselor to write and finalize their college essays during the summer before senior year and at the start of senior year. Prior to working with their College Counselor, during junior year, students will write sample drafts of their college essay in their English class. Students are asked to add these essays to SCOIR. There are numerous websites and information available providing guidelines for writing the college essay. It is important to receive information from trusted resources.
