Meet your Writer's Studio Peer Consultants.
Hello! My name is Savannah Branon, and I am a Writer’s Studio Peer Consultant. I have been at Bolles for a little over six months and my favorite subjects are English and History. I am a swimmer at Bolles, and I have been swimming for over twelve years. I love to read. A few of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings and The Odyssey. I also love to write essays. I am very good at writing analytical, symbolic, and formal essays. Often, my best essays are inspired by the books I read in class.
I have been at Bolles for seven years. Outside of English classes, I am also well versed in journalistic writing as Editor in Chief of the Bolles Bugle student publication and have been studying Mandarin Chinese at Bolles. Outside of academics, I volunteer as Service Director for CISV and tutor for JaxTHRIVE. I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, and creating art in my free time.
I am a senior peer consultant at the Writers’ Studio. Active in crew and president of The Bolles Premedical Society, I love reading, hiking, and baking—and you can always find me perfecting my chocolate chip cookie recipe. Even though I still can’t spell “receive,” I hope to “make essays great again” as a peer consultant. Twix bribes always accepted.
I am a senior at Bolles and am so excited to help out in the writer’s studio! I love all things History and English and am hoping to major in either Classics or History. I love to read in my down time and love watching movies (if you have any recommendations, please give them to me!). I came to Bolles in 10th grade and remember the struggle of acclimating to a new environment. As a sophomore and junior I utilized the writer’s studio frequently and can say with 100% honesty that it helped improve my writing. I hope to smooth out any trouble you’re having in English through the Writer’s Studio and be a helpful Peer Editor!!
I am a current senior and a consultant at the writer’s studio. I am planning to study Cellular and Molecular Biology in college and hopefully minor in creative writing. I love the show Suits and have two crazy pet cats. I am also the co-president of the Students of Students club and have been tutoring students since Freshman year. I have taken AP English Language and am currently enrolled in AP English Literature. I have also taken AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics and can help with any lab reports. I hope to help students highlight their unique voice through their writing and create an inviting environment for all.
I’m Ava Mariotti – I’m a senior and I’ve been at Bolles since Pre-K. I love writing and literature, and my favorite class in High School was AP Art History. My strengths are analysis, formatting, and creativity; any kind of creative writing prompt is my favorite! I’m open to helping with any type of writing, especially History and English papers. Outside of academics, I’m president of Bolles Mock Trial and love volunteering at the Whitehurst campus.
The Writers’ Studio, established in 2016 with the support of an Ottenstroer grant, serves the students and faculty on the Upper School campus, providing peer to peer tutorial services for students seeking assistance with English essays, research papers, labs, projects and presentations. In addition, students may receive assistance with critical reading skills.
The studio also offers leadership opportunities for its peer consultants in various programs, working with students at multiple grade levels, mentoring young writers, and assisting faculty with peer consultant/student dialogue about writing. The studio fosters the concept of one-on-one peer tutoring for students with a desire to improve and to enhance their writing skills. Within the studio, students may receive assistance from a peer consultant or an English faculty member. The peer consultants receive guidance from the director, but the peer consultants provide the necessary support to fellow students to gain confidence in their writing skills.
