Welcome to the Bolles School, Whitehurst Campus

Practical Information

The Copeland Library is located on the San Jose Campus of the Bolles School and is the home of a varied collection of fiction and nonfiction literature. We also have a selection of non-fiction EBooks and Audio Books..  

Students in the Lower School:

  • Visit the library on a scheduled basis for literature-enriched experiences that connect to the curriculum, engender the joy of reading and cultivate mindful selection and use of books for research and for pleasure.
  • Learn genres of literature and where to find them.
  • Listen to stories aloud, experience a wide variety of literature, and participate in storytelling.
  • Learn how to conduct research using  print and digital materials in both guided and independent settings.
  • Develop an awareness for the beauty of literature in life.

Check out Policy

All grade levels visit the library at a regularly scheduled time.  Each student is encouraged to select books to take home based on their own interests. Books are to be returned to the during the next scheduled library time.

  • PK, K and Grade 1 may check out 1 book.
  • Grade 2 may check out up to 2 books.
  • Grade 3-5 may check out up to 3 books.

During class projects students will be able to check out more books as necessary.

Overdue reminders will be sent home in the event that a book is overdue.
